Starcraft 2 Building Guide – Building Guides For Protoss, Terran And Zerg

Protoss Buildings

Assimilator. Let’s probes collect vespene gas from the different geysers around the area.
Cybernetics core. You can warp in stalkers & sentries
Dark Shrine. Let’s you warp in dark templars
Fleet beacon. Allows your carriers & mother ship to be warped in.
Forge. Let’s you build photon cannons and allows you to research ground unit upgrades.
Gateway. Let’s you warp in stalkers, sentries, zealots & dark templars.
Nexus. Where you drop off all minerals to be used. Constructs the mother ship as well.
Photon cannon. A protective / defensive building that has a ranged attack.
Pylon. A supply structure. Produces energy, and is needed for the placement of other buildings.
Robotics facility. Warps the immortals, colossuses, warp prisms and observers.
Robotics bay. Enables a robotics facility that will create colossi and has upgrades for warp prisms and observers.
Stargate. Warps the phoenix, carrier, and void ray.
Templar archives. Enables the warp of High Templars.
Twilight council. Let’s you upgrade stalkers & zealots.
Warp gate. Let’s you warp units to anywhere within range of a pylon or warp prisms.

Terran Buildings

Armory. Allows you to upgrade mechanical units.
Barracks. Creates infantry units.
Bunker. Protects infantry units that you’ve created.
Command center. Creates SCV’s and is a delivery point for minerals and gas.
Orbital command. Allows you to see enemy troop movements through the fog of war as it scans.
Planetary fortress. Let’s the command center attack ground units and increases armor.
Engineering bay. Upgrades your buildings & infantry.
Factory. Creates vehicle units
Fusion core. Let’s you create battlecruisers and lets you upgrade them.
Ghost academy. Let’s you produce ghosts.  It also keeps nuclear missiles for when you want to launch them.
Missile turret. Fires two missiles at air units.
Refinery. Refines gas.
Sensor tower. Senses enemy troops, ignoring the fog of war.
Starport. Creates air units.
Supply depot. Gives you supply for additional units, and acts as a wall if upgraded against enemies.

Zerg Units

Baneling nest. Is a requirement for producing banelings and upgrading them.
Evolution chamber. Gives upgrades for basic ground units.
Extractors. Lets dranes extract gas.
Hatchery. Spawns larvae which are used for a variety of purposes.  The “life” of the Zerg race.
Lair. Upgrades of your hatchery, provides a ton of additional features.
Hive. Upgrades the lair even further.
Hydralisk den. Required if you want to make hydralisks.
Infestation pit. Lets you create infestors and research their upgrades.
Nydus network. Allows you to create nydus worms and is an entrance to the nydus transport system.
Nydus worm. Transport mechanic of the Zerg.
Roach warren. Lets you create roaches.
Spawning pool. Required for your zergling production
Spine crawler.  Attacks ground units while being able to move
Spire. Required for the production of mutalisks.
Greater spire. Upgrades of the spire.
Spore crawler. A mobile anti-air unit that is creep-bound.
Ultralisk cavern. A requirement if you want to make ultralisks, and also lets you upgrade ultralisks.
